Valet Parking Offered At Walnut Creek's Broadway Garage

The goal is to create more parking supply in Downtown Walnut Creek during lunch and dinner hours without building another garage.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — The City of Walnut Creek has added 80 new parking spaces in the Broadway Parking Garage at 1390 South Broadway, using attendant assisted parking. The one-year pilot program will function like a valet service and double park cars when the garage is full.

The goal is to create more parking supply in Downtown Walnut Creek where parking can be difficult to find during lunch and dinner hours. The program started Monday.

Attendant assisted parking allows cars to park in the drive aisles of the garage, behind occupied parking stalls, in a manner that still allows vehicles to enter and exit. When the garage is full, an attendant will direct customers where to park, drivers provide their keys to the attendant and the attendant will provide a ticket to the driver to use when they return to retrieve their car.

The attendant moves cars into vacant spaces as they become available.

Drivers then retrieve their keys from the attendant when they return to the garage.

The garage will be staffed from Monday-Friday with two LAZ Parking employees specifically for attendant parking in the Broadway Garage. The program will not increase hourly parking rates to the garage.

LAZ Parking operates the City’s three garages and has an employee working 24 hours a day, seven days per week.

The City will be asking for feedback from drivers throughout the course of the pilot program to improve the operation and parking experience.
