Fire Threat Soars Along With Temperatures
Temperatures will soar over 100 degrees in interior areas.
BAY AREA — Multiple fire agencies conducted live fire exercises this week, honing their containment skills while burning off dangerous fuels at the same time. Hopefully, they will not have to put those skills to the test this weekend when temperatures soar.
The National Weather Service is predicting highs in the 90s and 100s in parts of the Bay Area on Friday and Saturday. The hills have already dried to a crispy brown, providing plentiful fuels for a fire. Residents should have a defensible space around their homes. Do not use power tools such as lawn mowers and weed whackers in the heat of the day.
Temperatures will peak on Saturday and begin to cool on Sunday.
