East Bay Firefighters On North Bay Fire Lines

Strike Teams with firefighters and equipment pulled from five different departments left over the weekend.

LAKE COUNTY, CA — East Bay firefighters are on the fire lines in Lake County, where close to 10,000 acres burned in wildfires over the weekend.

The largest fire is the Pawnee Fire which has charred 8,200 acres, 12 structures and threatens another 600. Mandatory evacuation orders are in place. The fire started Saturday, when temperatures peaked.

The locally deployed firefighters include two teams with firefighters and equipment pulled from Alameda County Fire, Berkeley Fire, Fremont Fire, Oakland Fire and Hayward Fire departments.

The Office of Emergency Services (OES) Strike Teams deployed on Sunday.
