Man Killed In Highway 24 Crash Identified

He was ejected from his vehicle in a crash Wednesday morning.

OAKLAND, CA — One person was killed in a crash on westbound Highway 24 in Oakland Wednesday morning, forcing the closure of three lanes of traffic just as the morning commute was getting underway. The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Kevin Alleaume of Oakley.

The crash happened at 5:20 a.m. The lanes were reopened around 7:30. By then traffic was at a virtual standstill all the way to Acalanes Road in Lamorinda.

The crash happened east of of College Avenue, not far past Lake Temescal.

The CHP reports that Alleaume was driving a Chevy Tahoe that was rear ended by another vehicle. The Tahoe went up an embankment, overturned onto its roof, and ejected Alleaume. He was run over by another car.

Alleaume was pronounced dead at the scene.
