Lightning, High Winds Possible: East Bay Fire Risk Elevated

The National Weather Service Warns that the East Bay is vulnerable.

EAST BAY AREA — The risk for wildfires will increase tonight into Friday morning in the San Francisco Bay Area because of a slight chance of thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.

The risk will be higher because the thunderstorms may bring lightning and gusty winds. Weather officials said thunderstorms are most likely in the North Bay and East Bay and the fire risk will be the greatest in the higher elevations of those regions.

Little to no rain is expected. Any fires that do start will spread, according to weather officials.
