WHAT: Andrea de Fraga, author of “Piggy Bank Book,” is asking the public for its help as she launches 44-day Kickstarter campaign to fund production costs.

WHY: The idea for such a book came from de Fraga, a business management professor at Chicago’s Columbia College and creator of The Evolve Planner, a financial tool to help people organize their lives and finances.

She wrote the “Piggy Bank Book” specifically to help children ages 6 to 11 and their families learn the valuable life skills of saving money for future goals and responsible spending. Working together to improve their financial learning, families will discover three spending activities, 30 ledger pages, tips to open a savings account and pages devoted to saving and what kinds of gifts the user wants to give.

WHERE: The Kickstarter campaign begins on Thursday, April 6 and runs until Sunday, May 21. The goal is to raise $6,000 but there are stretch goals. This is where if the campaign reaches specific levels amounts, there are new offerings. For example, if the campaign reaches $12,000, the book will be available in gold foil on a red cover. All monies will go toward the production of this book. Incentives include packages of books, pouches, sticker sheets and PDFs of coloring pages.
