Irish Theatre of Chicago Presents THE MY WAY RESIDENTIAL - World Premiere!

May 17 – June 25, 2017 at The Den Theatre

Irish Theatre of Chicago will conclude its 2016-17 Season with the world premiere of Geraldine Aron’s touching comedy THE MY WAY RESIDENTIAL, directed by ensemble member Kevin Theis, playing May 17 – June 25, 2017 at The Den Theatre (Upstairs Main Stage), 1333 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago. Tickets are currently available at www.irishtheatreofchicago.org.

THE MY WAY RESIDENTIAL will feature ITC ensemble members Jeff Christian and Carolyn Kruse with Terry Bell, Belinda Bremner and Christine Bunuan.

Willa is an elderly woman from Galway living in England. Byron is a young South African emigre. In the unlikely setting of a suburban London nursing home, this pair of unloved misfits discovers that family can be chosen and freedom is for the taking. From the author of Irish Theatre Company’s hit production of My Brilliant Divorce comes this touching and uplifting story about the choices we make, the hearts we touch, and how it's never too late to live your life with a happy ending.

About The Artists:

Geraldine Aron (Playwright) was born in Galway but spent most of her adult life in Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. She now divides her time between Cape Town and London. Aron is the author of twelve plays produced for television and radio, and Toscanini, a screenplay directed by Franco Zeffirelli. Her hugely acclaimed one-woman show, My Brilliant Divorce, has been performed all over the world and was nominated for an Olivier Award in 2004. She is also Plays not listed in the Irish Playography include Mr McConkey's Suitcase, Zombie, Mickey Kannis Caught My Eye, Same Old Moon, Spider, The Donahue Sisters, The Stanley Parkers and Joggers. the past winner of two Edinburgh Fringe Firsts, for Bar and Ger and A Galway Girl, respectively.

Kevin Theis (Director) This is Kevin’s fifth show directing for ITC, having previously staged The Clearing, The Pagans, Drink Me and A Moon for the Misbegotten. He has been an ITC ensemble member since 2000 and has appeared as a performer with the company in Dancing at Lughnasa, The Weir, The White Road and as a member of the Jeff Award-winning ensemble of The Seafarer. Kevin has staged productions with Oak Park Festival Theatre, City Lit Theatre, Buffalo Theatre Ensemble, greasy joan & company, Lifeline Theatre and CT20 Ensemble, among others, and has been nominated for three Jeff Awards for his directing work. This summer, he will stage his own adaptation of Thomas Heywood’s The Fair Maid of the West for Festival Theatre starting in July.
