Flash Flood Watch In Effect For Chicago Area | Local Rainfall Totals

Some areas have already gotten more than three inches of rain.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch, effective through Monday morning, for Will, Kane, DuPage, Kendall, Cook, Grundy, Ford, Iroquois, Kankakee and Livingston counties. Periods of moderate to heavy rainfall are expected through Sunday evening, with the possibility of additional rainfall of 1 to 3 inches, and even higher amounts in some areas.

"Given the rain that has already fallen, runoff from additional heavy rain may result in flash flooding," the NWS said. The warning includes the City of Chicago, Joliet, Aurora, Elgin, Wheaton and Oswego.
