One man was hospitalized after the early Monday incident.

CHICAGO, IL — One passenger was hospitalized early Monday after a driver's Jeep "just sunk" into a hole that opened in a Lake View East roadway.

The sinkhole swallowed the vehicle around 4 a.m. near the intersection of Broadway and Roscoe streets, according to an NBC report.

“We were literally driving home, we were just having a good night and all of a sudden my car just sunk, the road sunk underneath it and we were in a puddle,” driver Jeffery Garcia told reporters.
