2 Chicago Cops Wounded In Pit Bull Shooting
The police officers were hurt when bullet fragments ricocheted and hit them when shots were fired during a South Side dog attack Monday.
CHICAGO, IL — Bullet fragments struck and wounded two Chicago police officers after another officer shot at a charging pit bull Monday on the South Side, the Chicago Tribune reports.
The incident happened at around 6:50 p.m. Monday, May 15, in the 3600 block of South Wolcott Avenue in the McKinley Park neighborhood, the report stated. A pit bull charged at one of the officers, and another officer opened fire on the dog. The shots ricocheted, grazing one officer in the leg and hitting another in the foot, the report added.

The officers were taken to Rush University Medical Center and Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and they were in good condition, the report stated. The dog died after the shooting, the report added.
