Toddler Dies After Being Hit By Train At Fulton St Subway Station

FINANCIAL DISTRICT, NY — A child was hit and killed by a train after he became separated from his mother at the Fulton Street subway station Wednesday evening, officials said.

The 2-year-old boy ended up beneath the northbound 2 train at the Lower Manhattan stop about 5:40 p.m., according to FDNY and NYPD spokespeople.

He was rushed to NY Downtown Hospital where he was pronounced dead, officials said.

"Our hearts break for the family and the MTA is praying for them," said NYC Transit President Andy Byford. "Our thoughts are with the crew of the train as well."
