Montclair Will Remember Local 9/11 Victims On 20th Anniversary

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair will hold a special remembrance ceremony on the 20th anniversary of 9/11 in memory of the nine local residents who lost their lives in the attacks in 2001.

According to town officials, the ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11 at the memorial in Watchung Plaza.

Diana Stewart, who lost her husband, Michael Stewart in the attacks, will speak on behalf of Montclair’s bereaved families. Councilor Bob Russo, who was mayor of Montclair at the time of the attacks on the Twin Towers, will preside as master of ceremonies.

The event will include musical interludes performed by the Montclair Community Band, a piper playing “Amazing Grace,” and the march of the police and fire honor guards to and from the memorial.

A special invocation will accompany the traditional reading of the names of the nine Montclair residents who died on 9/11:
