PHOENIX, AZ β A man accused of murder in California was killed in a shootout with law enforcement outside Phoenix's Sky Harbor International Airport Friday night, according to reports.
Members of a U.S. Marshals task force were trying to arrest the man at an intersection outside the airport around 7 p.m. when he pulled out a handgun and started shooting at them, CNN reported. The officers returned fire, hitting the man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect's identity was not released, though law enforcement told CNN that he was wanted on suspicion of murder, as well as a parole violation connected with an earlier assault and rape charge.
