Man Charged For Hit And Run That Killed Retired ASU Police Sgt.

Albert Phillips was killed last week after being struck by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene, according to police.

TEMPE, AZ β€” A man has been charged in connection with the hit-and-run death of retired Arizona State University Police Sergeant Albert Phillips, according to Tempe Police.

Jeron Lawrence Meeks, 35, was booked into Tempe City Jail Tuesday on suspicion of manslaughter and hit-and-run fatality, according to Tempe Police.

Around 7:40 a.m. Friday, a vehicle that Tempe Police later accused Meeks of driving hit Phillips while he was on foot near the intersection of Forest Avenue and Mill Avenue, police said.
