Nominate A Tempean For An MLK Diversity Award

The awards recognize people who emulate the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The nomination deadline is Dec. 31.

TEMPE, AZ — Do you know someone who deserves recognition for their dedication to making Tempe a more equitable and inclusive place? Now's the time to nominate them for a Tempe MLK Diversity Award.

The awards are meant to honor locals who emulate the spirit fo Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., according to a news release from the city.

The virtual awards ceremony is set for 8 a.m. on Jan. 14.

The event is set to feature spoken word by poet and activist Qosmic Qadence, an address from Tempe Mayor Corey Woods and an interactive question and answer session with Sian Proctor, the first Black woman to pilot a spacecraft and the fourth Black woman astronaut.
