Here are three real-life stories of folks whose Ring devices helped make them feel more secure and connected to the communities where they live.
Vicky was about to get off work and head to her Reno, Nevada, home when she received a call from Ring's professional monitoring team. She immediately looked at her phone and saw she had a Ring App notification about motion in her backyard. Vicky quickly pulled up the Live View from her Spotlight Cam and saw an intruder climbing through her window and into her home.
"Please call the police," Vicky told the agent from the professional monitoring team. "Somebody is there, and they're breaking into my house."
The agent notified the police department, and as the authorities rushed to Vicky's house, the intruder barricaded himself inside. The agent then called Vicky back, "... and stayed on the phone with me, and that was amazing," she said.
The intruder tried unsuccessfully to disable the Ring Alarm inside the home. When the police arrived, Vicky stayed on the phone with the dispatcher as the officers negotiated with the intruder from outside the window. Eventually, the intruder surrendered and walked out of the house with his hands up.
Vicky said that thanks to her "full Ring of security," she was able to get "blow-by-blow accounts" of what was happening during the standoff. And thanks to her Ring Home Security devices, she didn't return to her home in the midst of the break-in.
"I believe that the [Ring] system saved my life," Vicky said. "[The intruder] was armed, and I don't know how much of my safety would've been at stake had I walked in on this man in my home."
"This is my sanctuary," Vicky added. "Having a secure system in place [gives] me that feeling of safety ... Things in the house, those can be fixed, [but] you can't fix your most prized possessions, which are your family."
Jason and Courtney's daughter armed the family's Ring Alarm as she was leaving their Surprise, Arizona, home. Unfortunately, the door didn't latch properly, and it swung back open. The open door was detected by the family's Contact Sensor, which immediately triggered the Ring Alarm and sent a mobile alert to Jason's Ring App.
Jason quickly opened the app and his Ring Spotlight Cam overlooking the driveway showed that the family's dog, Finn, had escaped. Courtney said she and Jason called their daughter and "were able to tell her which direction [Finn] went."
According to Courtney, her daughter was "able to find [Finn] and brought him home within seven minutes of him leaving!"
"Most families don't get that lucky when they've lost their dog," Courtney said. "When their dog gets out of the house, it could be days, weeks, or you might not get your dog back again ... [W]e were about to get our dog back so quickly because we knew which way he went. When he left, [Ring devices] helped us find him so much quicker."
Ring devices are designed to strengthen communities and help folks to connect in meaningful ways. Just ask Denver, Colorado, residents Cherry and Charles, who were able to thank two strangers who made their daughter Kailyn's day thanks to their Ring Video Doorbell and the Neighbors App.
It all started when Eejipt and her 9-year-old son Jaelan were driving down the road and saw a sign that said, "Honk for the birthday girl." Eejipt had been teaching Jaelan about the importance of "being generous and [thinking] about the needs of others," and seeing the birthday sign gave her an idea of how to put those lessons into action.
"We were in the midst of grocery shopping, and I was just like, 'Hey, what a thoughtful idea to just bring something small,'" Eejipt said. With Jaelan's help, Eejipt picked out "a box of candy and a cute card" to deliver to the birthday girl.
Eejipt and Jaelan then went to Cherry, Charles and Kailyn's home to drop off their sweet surprise. When the thoughtful mom and son walked up to the door of the birthday girl's house, the family's Ring Floodlight Cam and Ring Video Doorbell detected motion, and both started ΒΉrecording the heartwarming moment that was about to unfold.
Cherry said that Kailyn, who was turning 6, and her dad Charles "weren't expecting anyone, so it was a surprise to both [of them] when they answered the door." The birthday girl and her father were so taken aback by Eeijpt and Jaelan's thoughtful gesture that "it didn't even occur to them to get contact info so that we could thank them," Cherry said.
Fortunately, Cherry thought to upload the video of Eejipt and Jaelan's kind act to the Neighbors App. "Who is this?!" Cherry wrote. "We don't know them, but we really want to thank them. They brought my baby a card and candy. It was so sweet!"
A friend of Eejipt's told her about Cherry's post on the app so she could respond. "You're very welcome," Eejipt wrote. "My son and [I] wanted to wish her a very happy 6th birthday!"
The experience made Kailyn's birthday extra special, but Jaelan said it made him feel "very happy," too. "After I saw the video, so many people were being so nice to us," Jaelan said. "We could really use more of that all around the world."
