Mover Accused Of Stealing Jewelry From Customer's Home

A man employed with a moving company allegedly stole jewelry from a customer’s home in Mundelein and sold the items at a pawn shop, prosecutors said.

Kenta R. Frison, 43, of the 1500 block of Broadway Avenue in North Chicago, was charged with felony theft. Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Kelse Banks said during a bond hearing Tuesday that police officers responded to the 300 block of East Maple Avenue in Mundelein for a report of a theft.

The victims hired the company Two Men and a Truck to assist them with moving to Gurnee on December 26, 2019. Two men arrived in the morning around 9 a.m. and the victim instructed both men not to enter the master bedroom, Banks said.

The victim had previously hidden two gold rings in the bedroom.

The two workers finished the job around 11:45 a.m. and the victim then went into the master bedroom and noticed both rings were missing, Banks said.

The rings included a gold wedding ring with seven diamonds and a gold Carmel High School football championship ring.

The victim provided officers with photographs of the rings and officers obtained the names of the two movers from their supervisor. Banks said officers determined Frison had sold the two rings at a pawn shop in Waukegan.

An arrest warrant was issued for Frison in January 2020 and the man was taken into custody on the warrant on Monday. Lake County Judge Theodore Potkonjak ordered Frison held in the Lake County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

Court records show Frison also had a warrant for a theft over $10,000 offense that occurred in Vernon Hills.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 25.
