Actors needed August 23-24 for CLC theatre’s “Lions in Illyria"

The program is looking for actors to audition.

Performers 16 and older are invited to audition for College of Lake County theatre department’s young audience production of “Lions in Illyria.” Auditions will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23 and Wednesday, Aug. 24 at the Studio Theatre located at 19351 W. Washington St. in Grayslake.

The show is about a young lioness named Violet who gets separated from her brother by a sea storm and must brave an unknown country all alone. She disguises herself as a boy and finds work helping a preposterous peacock win the love of the most graceful gazelle in town. Her adventures take a wacky turn and Violet finds herself entangled in the clownish antics of a warthog and his featherbrained sidekick. Travel to the wonderful land of Illyria in this comedy about friendship, love and the importance of being oneself.

Those auditioning need to prepare a 60-90 second comedic or children’s play monologue. Actors need only attend one day of auditions and should bring an acting resumé if they have one and a recent photo or headshot or email them to director Alicia Hall at ahall1@clcillinois.edu. Callbacks are Thursday, Aug. 25 at 6:30 p.m.
