'Brief Tornado,' Damaging Winds Possible As Storms Hit IL Sunday

ILLINOIS — Isolated to scattered storms are expected starting Sunday afternoon across the state. In the Chicago area, the greatest threat for thunderstorms will be from 4 to 10 p.m., the National Weather Service said.

Storms could bring damaging winds strong enough to down tree limbs, a "brief tornado or two," lightning and downpours.

AccuWeather said Sunday will be cloudy, humid and warm, with a high of 88 degrees and thunderstorms developing in late afternoon.

Residents are urged to move indoors if they hear thunder. All storms Sunday are expected to produce brief, torrential rain.
