No One In Custody In Grayslake Fatal Shooting: Police

The Lake County Major Crimes Task Force and Grayslake Police Department are investigating the fatal shooting, which happened Saturday.

GRAYSLAKE, IL — A 23-year-old man who was fatally shot in Grayslake over the weekend has been identified as Isidro Juarez of Waukegan, authorities said.

Juarez was riding as a passenger in a vehicle in the area of Washington Street and Lancer Lane in Grayslake at about 10:45 a.m. on Saturday when the occupant of another vehicle began shooting at his vehicle, according to a news release from the Lake County Major Crime Task Force.

Juarez was taken to a hospital after being shot and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital, according to police. Results from an autopsy show he died from a single gunshot wound, according to a statement from the Lake County Coroner's Office.

Meanwhile, authorities say no one is in custody in connection with the homicide.

"Investigators are looking into the possibility that the person who shot him (Juarez) knew him," Christopher Covelli, public information officer of the Lake County Major Crime Task Force, told Patch in an email response.
