CONCORD, NH — Two city restaurants are hosting fundraisers to assist the family of Christopher Girard, the Concord firefighter who died on March 1.

From 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, Peter Napoli, the owner-operator of the McDonald’s Restaurant at 90 S. Main St., will donate 20 percent of sales to CJ’s wife and children. Concord firefighters, as well as Gov. Kelly Ayotte, are expected to be in attendance at the event.

T-Bones is also raising money for the family by donating 25 percent of all sales of CJ’s favorite dish at the restaurant — marinated sirloin tips with rice pilaf and homemade onion rings, to the family. The donation will be made on sales through April 19.

“(Girard) was a dedicated firefighter who held himself and others to the highest standards,” the restaurant said in a T-Bones email alert. “Known for his passion, determination, and work ethic, he never shied away from a challenge. This donation is a tribute to his legacy of love and service to the Concord community. You will be greatly missed.”

Girard, who lived in Bow, had been a firefighter in Concord for about seven years after serving in Londonderry and the Pease International Airport. He left a wife and two children after a brief illness.

Nearly $80,000 was raised for the family via Meal Train and close to $55,000 was raised via a GoFundMe effort.
