Chicago, IL: The Beverly Theatre Guild (BTG) is thrilled to announce its spring musical, Godspell – 2012 Revival. Directed and choreographed by Tor Campbell of Rogers Park, this production promises to be a not-to-miss rendering of the Broadway smash hit that originally debuted in 1971. Based on the Gospel of Saint Matthew, Godspell 2012 is the timeless tale of friendship, loyalty, and love in a masterful retelling of the original sensation. It uses song, dance, and a variety of storytelling techniques to relay the parables that Jesus shared with his disciples. Filled with high spirited musical styles ranging from pop to vaudeville, this theatrical celebration is a reminder that kindness, tolerance, and love should live on vibrantly.
Godspell was the first musical by award-winning composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz, whose body of work includes Pippin and Wicked. The 2012 Revised Version has dazzling new arrangements and lyrics of its beloved songs, such as "Day by Day,” “Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord,” and “Beautiful City,” that will be humming in your head long after the performance is over.
This final show of BTG’s 2023-24 Season is produced by Tony Zawila (Scottsdale) and Richard Lara, Jr. (Scottsdale), with an artistic staff that includes Kathryn Cargill (Palos Heights) as Assistant Director, Sharon Mason (Ashburn) as Music Director, Michael Barr-Schinzel (Beverly) as Assistant Music Director, and Britta Schlicht (Roscoe Village) as Assistant Choreographer.
Starring in the lead role as Jesus will be Sterlin Johnson of Forest Park. The role of John the Baptist/Judas will be played by Ben Walker of Blue Island. The extremely talented ensemble cast consists of Rachel Berlinski (Worth), Lauren Bourret (Mt. Greenwood), Andy Breitbarth (Evergreen Park), Katie Beth Davis (Andersonville), Macoe Davis (Andersonville), Michael Gerardi (Beverly), Kallie Givens (Washington Heights), Hannah Hayes (Oak Lawn), Hannah Kennedy (Beverly), Betty Kort (Evergreen Park), Meg Massaro (Beverly), Sydney Milligan (Calumet Heights), Dan Murphy (Darien), Rose Murphy (Kenwood), Danielle O’Malley (Mt. Celebrate Free Comic Book Day in Oak Park
Free Comic Book Day is traditionally held the first Saturday in May each year. 
 “Every year, we strive to bring fans a memorable Free Comic Book Day experience” exclaimed Rick Manzella, Owner of One Stop Comics. The variety of this year’s comic book selection is exciting! There’s something for every kind of fan, from the long-time reader to the comic book curious. We know at One Stop Comics we are looking forward to treating everyone to a day of fun and discovery, so we hope fans will be able to safely visit us at 111 South Ridgeland”
Make your plans to visit One Stop Comics on May 04 between 10:00 am and 7:00 pm to get all those cool giveaways (which, we should mention, are NOT free to comic bookstores — so please remember to be polite, say thank you and think about buying something else while you are there getting the free stuff).
On Saturday May 04, One Stop Comics will give away thousand’s of free comics for the 23rd annual Free Comic Book Day. Rick hopes comic fans will enjoy Free Comic book day and the fans will return to being entertained with comics. Free Comic Book Day at One Stop Comics will have a few artists attending to show fans what making comics is all about.

The show begins with 8 quick comics followed by our headliner, Elaine Golden! She is a stand-up comedian, writer, and storyteller based in Chicago. Elaine performs around the county and at venues across Chicago including the Laugh Factory, Second City, and the Lincoln Lodge. Elaine created and co-wrote the musical Rat City, which the Chicago Reader called “an endearingly silly high-energy show.” There is no cover, doors open at 7:00pm, show starts at 7:30pm (yes, you’ll be home by 9:15pm), The Friendly Community, 6731 Roosevelt Road in Berwyn.
